My beautiful, zoomy girl. She was the girlie we kept from Fëa's litter by Bear (Anadune High Hopes). It was Fëa's second and last litter, and I'd hoped there'd be a girl for me to keep, one that would be lovely like Fëa herself and lively like the Buffy line tends to be. She was exactly what I wanted: such an amazing zest for life, beautiful structure and totally devoted to her family.

She did everything: got to do some shows when she was little. She started her showing career by winning Best Puppy in Show at the Border Collie Club of Wales championship show under breed specialist John Ritchie (bitch classes) and then went Best Puppy in Show under another breed specialist, Bob Rushton. The result was amazing, but most of all, she enjoyed her day out — long drive there, a jaunt around a field and some treats in the ring (yum!), she took it all in her stride.

I waited until she was a bit older to start herding, so she didn't do anything silly to injure herself, but she quickly went from the round pen (too small, she said!) to a big field. She liked to stay off her sheep, and was such a stylish little girl. Her agility foundation went beautifully, she enjoyed her training in the garden, running out to stand on her contact, wagging her tail until I got there to give her a treat! Speedy on straight lines, she quickly learnt that you're supposed to turn tightly when certain words are said ☺

And then the worst, completely unexpected, week came. It started with me waking up the emergency vet in the middle of the night and ended with me having to have my beautiful, lively little girl put to sleep less than a week later. She never got to do all the things she was meant to do and it breaks my heart that I'll never see my little Limi-Lim-Lim lapping the field with joy, coming to check on 'her' boy every lap — you knew just what to do to make him laugh — her bed won't be filled with all the toys we own again and my shoes will remain firmly next to each other from now on. I know your pain has gone, my baby girl, mine won't be leaving any time soon.
